New at this!

Ok so I am new at two things: planning a wedding, and blogging. Even though our wedding is over a year away, I have started the very slow and expensive planning process, and this is just a way to follow along this journey with me!

I am the wedding girl, so in a way I thought I had pretty much decided on everything I did or did not want, how I wanted it, and why. I should have known that I was going to change my mind a million times (i'm very indecisive) when we went to look for the first time. All of the sudden the Tiffany & Co. ring I thought that I had always wanted didn't even look right on my finger! (Not to mention it cost more than the down payment on my dream home!) Really though this is going to be very hard.

There are a few things I know for sure at this point:
  • I want a fall wedding. The impatient part of me considered changing this so I could get married sooner after graduation, but then I realized that once I have waited a year and a half, what's three more months?
  • I love my fiance, and I know that the planning process is going to test his patience, he was born without a feminine side and would probably rather take my dad up on his "I'll pay you to elope," offer rather than have a big wedding.
  • Planning something like this really brings out the best, and worst in the people in your life (I have heard so many horror stories!)
  • I just want to take the money that my parents provide, and spread it as far as it can go, even if that means doing a lot of DIY stuff.

Most of all I just want to have a big party for all of our family and friends to celebrate the love that we have, and the life that we will be living together!

  1. I think that the most important this is when you are feeling the stress of point 3 always, always reference point 2! LOL Love and spending your life with someone is what is important, the party is a bonus. I was the laid back bride and I only have one horror story. :) It's easier to concentrate on the marriage than the party. I know easy for me to say! LOL
