So my mother has officially jumped on the wedding band wagon (finally!)!! I came out the other night and low and behold that not-so-Internet savvy mother of mine had managed to find a great site with a lot more wedding vendors in Indianapolis than I had come across on any of my sites! While there are lots of places out there where one could have a wonderful $50k reception, I think she might have found the perfect place! It's located downtown, but it features easy highway access, and free parking for the guests! The website is http://www.mavrisculturalcenter.net/ I just love the hardwood floors and exposed brick walls. The building used to be an old grocery center/storage facility for the incoming railroad shipments. Then it was a plumbing factory of sorts. Now it is this really neat building with beautiful views. I have a meeting with a coordinator there on Saturday.... That is where impending doom comes in. They won't even tell me the prices over the phone, so I am thinking it might be pretty high. I've got a very strict budget I want/need to stick to, so we will see. I just really like the rustic yet contemporary feel of the place. Plus with the hardwood floors and brick walls it doesn't really limit design and colors like other locations. I guess all i can do now is wait and see.
I am starting to think more and more about the guest list. While I would like to invite everyone I know to the wedding, with the cost-per-head ratio I just don't think that is going to be a possibility. I am not looking forward to have that conversation with the mothers. I just don't think great aunt sally that hasn't seen me ever except in pictures is really worth sending more than an announcement to. Everyone says invite more because you get more, but at what cost? I mean I just want it to be an intimate, fun, crazy party with those I love, not every Joe Schmo I ever came across.
Especially with so many DIY projects. I mean 150 invites is already a lot to make myself, then add on 100 people that aren't going to show and it just becomes overwhelming. Luckily I think that my Mom, his Mom, and some of my friends are going to be more than willing to help with things.
Meanwhile I need to get back to work, I will post this weekend after my meeting with the staff at Mavris... Wish me luck!
